The company was founded in 1936 and was reorganized as a société anonyme based in Lykovrisi, Attica, in 1960.

In the 1950’s it stood out as the first, and sole, company in Greece that produced water heaters with GLASS enamel (hence the registered name DURO GLASS).

In the 1960’s, ELCO became a pioneer in qpplyint innovative technologies in the ELCO water heaters, such as the thermostatic safety fuse, the mercury thermostat and the downward protection with magnesium anode.

At the same time, it started producing freestanding electric cookers, a significant number of which we still find operating in Greek households today!

In the 1980s, the unique ELCO SELECTRON 2001 electric cookers with 24 grilling programs were created. The SELECTRON system is an ELCO patent.

In 1992, followed the ELCO DURO GLASS electric water heaters, in 1996 the unique ELCO SMART table cookers and in 1998 the ELCO SOL solar water heaters.

In 1999 the company started production of the ELCO X-press electric cookers .

In 2002 the new series of ELCO DURO GLASS electric water heaters was presented.

In 2006 ELCO presents the ELCO TITAN electric water heaters, which are equipped with an external temperature control and are covered by a 10-year warranty.

In 2008 ELCO launches the ELCO SOL-TECH 130L, 160L, 200L and 300L solar panels, with selective collectors.

In 2010 it adds to its product range the ELCO THERMOSTORE vertical standing boiler and buffers.

In 2012 it introduces the new ELCO DURO GLASS and ELCO TITAN Super Boiler vertical mounting models, with twice the surface and high-powered heat exchanger, for hot water supply at the pace of an instant electric water heater.

In 2019 it presents the ELCO XR 130L, 160L and 200L solar water heaters, with selective collectors and the best value for money.

In 2020, it launches the ELCO SMART (vertical mounting) electric water heaters , the only "smart" water heaters produced in Greece, with energy class B.

In 2021 the company presents the new ELCO SOL-TECH S2 solar water heaters with ELCO CS Full plate selective collectors, incorporating a range of design and construction improvements in capacities of 130L, 160L, 180L, 200L and 300L.

In the same year ELCO begins the distribution of the new series of freestanding cookers, as well as built-in ovens and hobs, with specifications that meet the needs of the modern era, with contemporary design and a 3-year warranty.

In 2025, ELCO presents the ELCO SMART horizontal mounting electric water heaters, as well as the ELCO DURO GLASS and ELCO TITAN horizontal and floor mounting Super Boilers, which may ideally be combined with heat pumps.

FACILITIES
The company houses its offices and the production plant in privately owned facilities of 15,000 sq.m. in Lykovrisi, Attica.  It also has its Northern Greece branch, with offices and warehouse in privately owned facilities of 2,000 sq.m. in Kalochori, Thessaloniki.

ELCO manufactures and distributes electric and solar water heaters, vertical standing boilers and buffers, freestanding electric cookers, as well as built-in ovens and hobs.
